Maud Fraser, 73, wrote her first song two years ago, which recently went on to top the charts at a radio station in Jamaica.

Grief affects people in different ways.

Maud Fraser said she couldn't even get out of bed after losing James, her husband of 34 years, in August 2005.

But the 73-year-old was determined to feel alive again, so she picked up a pen and paper and started writing.

The result was Granny's Inspiration, a song about following your dreams, no matter how impossible they seem.

'It was like my husband was telling me to do some writing, even though he wasn't here, because he always worried about me being happy and loved me,' she said. 'My husband was one of the best people in the world. Doing something positive when you lose a loved one is the best medication.'

A reggae version of the song recorded by Fraser hit number 1 on Roots 96.1 FM in Kingston, Jamaica in February, also receiving regular play on other stations on the island."
